Why the translation “흑인의 목숨 소중하다”?
In Korean, “흑인” means “black people.” “목숨” means “lives,” and can literally be translated into “the breath in one’s throat.” “소중하다” is the Korean verb for “to be precious,” to be beloved. Altogether, this statement expresses that black lives are precious.
We created the design in order to spark much-needed conversations within the Korean community. At the same time, we hope that this message resonates with us all.
